First Flow Meter Certified to New NSF International American National Standard for Recreational Water Equipment.

ANN ARBOR, MI — November 26th, 2012 — H2flow Controls, Inc. (via www.nsf.org) -

NSF International, an independent global organization that writes standards, and tests and certifies products for the water, food, and consumer goods industries, has certified the first flow meter for pool, spa, and waterpark applications to the American National Standard for recreational water equipment and new California regulations. Fluidics Hawaii, LLC’s FV-C Mechanical Flow Meter is the first to earn NSF certification to this standard, demonstrating to pool operators and regulators its ability to effectively and accurately measure water flow. This is critical to disinfection, filtration and maintaining safe water circulation rates.

Verifying the safety and effectiveness of flow meters is especially important to maintaining water flow rates within safe limits (as defined by law in the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act), which helps prevent entrapment from pool and spa drains.

Earning certification to NSF/ANSI Standard 50: Equipment for Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs, and Other Recreational Water Facilities also demonstrates Fluidics Hawaii’s compliance with regulations recently enacted in the State of California. All 50 US States require that public pools install a flow meter to help health officials verify safe water circulation, filtration and water turnover during an inspection. The new California Building Code (Title 24, Part 2, Vol. 2 effective September 1, 2012) requires flow meters to be within a 10 percent accuracy rate and to be tested and certified to an industry standard such as NSF/ANSI Standard 50.

To earn NSF/ANSI 50 certification, Fluidics Hawaii’s Flow Meter was evaluated by NSF engineers to verify material safety, corrosion resistance, burst pressure and durability, as well as flow meter accuracy under various conditions. In addition, NSF conducted an audit of Fluidics Hawaii’s manufacturing facility in Sylvania, Ohio to verify quality assurance and control requirements were met. NSF also confirmed that only authorized materials and components are used in the manufacturing of the flow meters. NSF will conduct annual unannounced facility audits and periodic retesting to ensure ongoing compliance.

“Fluidics Hawaii focuses on developing innovative solutions and devices to make pools and spas operate cleaner, safer, and more efficiently. By being the first to earn NSF International certification for our FV-C Flow Meter, we’re demonstrating this commitment to our customers and public health officials and providing them with the accurate tools they need to help protect the health and safety of swimmers,” said Paul Hackett, Chief Executive Officer of Fluidics Hawaii, LLC.

“The accuracy of pool flow meters is of the utmost importance in maintaining the safety of the pool and spa environment for swimmers. As the first to earn NSF certification for their flow meter, Fluidics Hawaii is demonstrating its leadership in the recreational water industry,” said Dave Purkiss, General Manager of NSF International’s Water Treatment and Distribution Products Certification Programs.

For more than 50 years, NSF International has applied its technical and scientific expertise to improve the safety, quality and performance of pools and spas by developing innovative standards for recreational water equipment and components. NSF/ANSI Standard 50: Equipment for Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs, and Other Recreational Water Facilities specifies the testing requirements for virtually every product used at a recreational water facility. NSF International developed NSF/ANSI 50 through a consensus process with balanced input from the regulatory, industry, academic and consumer communities. The NSF/ANSI 50 standard continues to evolve to incorporate the latest product and material test methods and regulations and is required by most U.S. States.

About NSF International: NSF International is an independent global organization that writes standards, and tests and certifies products for the food, water and consumer goods industries to minimize adverse health effects and protect the environment (www.nsf.org). Founded in 1944, NSF is committed to protecting human health and safety worldwide. NSF is a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Food and Water Safety and Indoor Environment.

NSF International’s Water Programs require extensive product testing and unannounced audits of production facilities to verify pool and spa equipment, water treatment and filtration products meet design, material and performance requirements. NSF International’s Recreational Water Certification program tests and certifies virtually every pool and spa product used in commercial and residential water facilities.

Additional NSF International services include management systems registrations delivered through NSF International Strategic Registrations (NSF-ISR); food safety and quality programs through the NSF Food Safety Division; pharmaceutical, medical device and nutritional supplement auditing and certification through the NSF Health Sciences division; sustainability services through NSF Sustainability, and NSF Education and Training programs.
